La expresión de esta semana “vivir a todo tren” es una expresión coloquial, relacionada con el lujo y se usa para decir que alguien tiene un nivel de vida muy alto, está rodeado de riqueza y abundancia y tiene muchas comodidades que la mayoría de personas no tienen.
Una expresión relacionada con nuestra expresión de hoy es “vivir como un pachá” y ambas se pueden usar de forma intercambiable.
El origen de esta expresión es desconocido pero se puede explicar de la siguiente forma. Imaginemos un tren que va a máxima velocidad, nada lo puede parar, e incluso si el maquinista quiere parar el tren de repente, aún tardaría unos segundos en reducir la velocidad hasta pararse del todo por completo. Se utiliza este símil para describir a personas que viven al máximo, sin reducir la velocidad de su ritmo de vida ni un sólo segundo.
Una expresión equivalente en inglés sería “to live in style”.
