Nuestra expresión de hoy, "en el reino de los ciegos, el tuerto es el rey", es una expresión que significa que algo no es bueno o malo por sí solo, sino que es bueno o malo dependiendo de con qué lo comparemos.
Si analizamos detenidamente esta expresión, una persona con un ojo (un tuerto) tiene cierta visibilidad, mientras que el resto (los ciegos) no tienen ningún tipo de visibilidad. Con esto queremos decir que el tuerto tiene una ventaja sobre el resto de los ciegos. Pero si el tuerto se mezcla con un grupo de personas que tienen visibilidad perfecta, el tuerto pasa a estar en una situación de desventaja frente a los demás. De aquí que algo o alguien es mejor o peor que los demás, pero siempre dependiendo de con qué o quién lo comparemos. El tuerto tiene una ventaja sobre los ciegos, pero este mismo tuerto estaría en desventaja frente a los que tienen visibilidad perfecta.
